CEO Transparent Data is a member of the Group for strategic directions of data management in Poland

We are pleased to announce that CEO of Transparent Data Arkadiusz Hajduk has joined the Group for strategic directions of data management. The Group was established in order to implement the government's "Data opening program for Poland 2021-2027" and to exchange knowledge and good practices in data management.

The manager of the entire Group is Anna Gos - director of the Data Management Department and Data Openness Officer at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland. To operate more efficiently, the entire Group has been divided into two subgroups: data and resource openness and data management and exchange.

The task of the Subgroup for open data and resources is primarily the implementation of the government's "Data Opening Program for Poland 2021-2027", discussing the needs and barriers related to data openness, and sharing knowledge and good practices in data management. The thematic areas of the Subgroup for management and exchange of data are regulations relating to open data and its re-use, including the EU's Data Governance Act and Data Act regulations.

Due to our extensive experience in the field of open data, our CEO joined the Subgroup for open data and resources.

Thanks to open data from public sector like business registers, it is possible to develop modern services and products available on the Polish market - this applies to both the private sector and financial institutions, health care and public transport. In Poland, access to open data is at a good level compared to other countries in Europe. This is evidenced by the fact that Poland was placed 4th in the Open Data Maturity 2021 ranking, which we wrote about in the article HERE.

However, there are still many areas and processes that require improvement to make the release of public sector data in Poland simply more effective. We believe that the creation of the Group for strategic directions of data management, which will implement the government's "Data Opening Program for Poland 2021-2027", may have a positive impact on the level of data openness in Poland.

The first meeting of the Group took place on October 13, 2022. During the meeting, the directions of work and the schedule of activities were presented. In the future, the meetings between government employees and business experts take place at least once a quarter. In order to be up to date and follow the work of the Group, it is worth following the Facebook profile of the organiser - Otwarte Dane (Dane.gov.pl), which is the administrator of the well-known polish portal Otwarte Dane.

The Open Data portal was created for citizens, entrepreneurs, local government organisations and scientists for whom open data is essential for the development of services, products and solutions they are working on. The portal's mission is to open public data in Poland from many sectors. Currently, over 28,000 open data from sources such as ZUS, GUS, UOKiK, the Polish Ministry of Finance, the Polish Ministry of Justice, municipal offices in Poland and hundreds of others have been made available on the portal. There are plans to open data from other sources and sectors and to constantly increase the number of data providers.
